Medha is a organisation which aims to better prepare India’s youth for life after school. "We strive to achieve this goal by supporting existing college and high school students from low-income backgrounds with employability training, leadership development, and career services." Their mission is to improve the employment outcomes for over one million students a year across India. "Through our unique approach to employability development, we also hope to change the education paradigm in India."
India is currently facing a shortage of skills in its labor force, as the education and training infrastructure struggles to keep pace with changing market demands. Based on current estimates, 57% of India’s 147 million youth labor force suffer some degree of unemployability, while 53% of employed youth lacks skills . This leads to lower relative returns to education, higher unemployment and underemployment, and increased inequality. The country faces an urgent need to improve employability outcomes for the next generation, and Medha wants to play an important role in that.
Medha is a start up company, started by two enthousiastic young entrepreneurs. They are registered as an NGO, and employ 4 people so far.
