SMV Wheels sells cycle rickshaws in India to cycle rickshaw drivers. The rickshaw drivers are one of urban India’s most marginalised communities. Despite their honest labour and the highly valuable service, they can not avail credit. No matter how hard they work, they will never be able to own their rickshaw. This makes it almost impossible for them to improve their circumstances. Therefore SMV Wheels sells cycle rickshaws with an extended payment period, to make the rickshaw drivers of today the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. SMV Wheels aims to give them confidence, dignity and a chance at upward economic mobility.
Objectives:
1. Become the pre-eminent asset based lender for the rickshaw and cart operating community in India
2. To profitably serve over 15,000 customers within 6 years
3. To continue to innovate the rickshaw/carts being offered to reduce the burden on drivers and enhance income opportunities
You will help SMV Wheels to develop a better designed, light weight, more user friendly manual rickshaw model. This will reduce the drudgery and physical labour of the rickshaw pullers.
You are a professional with a technical background and with eye for design improvement. Preferably you have some experience with cycle manufacturing.
