About the organisation

Shreyas is one of the leading social development organisations in South India. This NGO is functioning as a umbrella organisation and their mission is to be a learning, facilitating and model organization for integral development through participatory approach. Main goal is to contribute to the development of marginal farmers, tribal communities, women, children and senior citizens. It was started in the year 1979, as an initiative of the Catholic Church.

With support of Shreyas, at present 2.337 Community Based Organisations are now catering the needs of 40.042 poor and marginalized families. The organisation offers many different services to the families they work with. This vacancy is about one of those services namely; the promotion of sustainable agriculture. They promote organic production of coffee, black pepper and tea leafs. The market for these products is both domestic as international.

What will you work on

The activities in the agricultural sector and handicraft sector are incoming generating activities of Shreyas. Eventhough they are a NGO they need to make these activities more profitable. When these activities are run as a distinct business unit it will stimulate the producers to better market their products, receive better income and livelihood.

During your stay in Kerala, South India you will work on a business plan to make the distinct unit succesfull. You will share your business perspective.

What do we expect from you

You have experience in business consultancy and in developing business plans. Also, to participate in an Expert Programme you need to have:

- at least five years of relevant working experience
- at least have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Costs

Participation in this programme is on a voluntary basis. International travelling expenses are to be paid by the participant. SharePeople charges the participant a reasonable fee for which he/she receives matching, preparation, training (intercultural and safety) and work materials. However, the local organization facilitates full board & lodging and local transportation for the participant.
Personal coaching by a professional coach is optional in this programme but comes with additional costs.
