Samrat Hotel is one of the first quality hotels in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. It offers 48 rooms for local as well as the international clients. The courtyard restaurant and bar services international (organic) cuisine. The hotel tries to employ as many people from around Dire Dawa as possible, in stead of hiring from the capital Addis Ababa. At the moment it employs about 160 people. Their empoyees are trained to a high quality standard, which is known throughout the region. With this high quality hotel, they try to persuade international tourists to spend more time in Dire Dawa, to benefit the town, its community and region.

People: the owner invests in people (trainings and (inter)national scholarship programmes for staff)
Profit: profit will be mainly reinvested and partly used to support social projects
Planet: the food served is organic

The hotel management would like to assess the functionality of the current system they use. Most importantly, they would appreciate your advice on how to restructure the organisation in order to make it function more efficient, which will in the end benefit the customers. Next to that, they would like to improve training for staff (e.g. training of trainers) on customer service and front desk/office services.

You have experience with working in the hotel industry. You know how to assess organisational dynamics, and how to improve those. Also, it is an advantage if you know your international way around.

Also, to participate in an Expert Programme you need to have:

- at least five years of relevant working experience
- at least have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Participation in this programme is on a voluntary basis. International travelling expenses are to be paid by the participant. SharePeople charges the participant a reasonable fee for which he/she receives matching, preparation, training (intercultural and safety) and work materials. However, the local organization facilitates full board & lodging and local transportation for the participant.
Personal coaching by a professional coach is optional in this programme but comes with additional costs.
